New Competition: ARC Engage

The Applied Research Centre is pleased to offer the new ARC Engage grant! The purpose of the ARC Engage is to empower faculty to positively impact our community, build applied research capacity at the College, and provide meaningful experiential learning opportunities for our students. This new competition is replacing ARC Release.

ARC Engage provides paid secondment (up to 2 sections within a maximum of 12 months), together with appropriate funding for student researchers and operations, to any Langara faculty member to pursue this purpose through a variety of ways, for example:

  • to write a proposal for a major external grant
  • to build capacity such that the proposed research is ready to compete for an external grant
  • to execute a defined applied research project

To fulfill the College’s mandate of facilitating applied projects, proposals will typically involve an organization in the community (not-for-profit, private sector, etc.) as a partner in the endeavor. ARC encourages faculty with creative ideas that address ARC Engage objectives to contact their appropriate coordinators:

Yue-Ching Cheng
Coordinator, Social Science, Humanities, and Creative Arts Research
yccheng@langara.ca

Nathan Jones
Coordinator, Science and Technology Research
nathanjones@langara.ca

Engage grants will be available on a competitive basis as funding permits. Applications timelines are listed below. Successful applicants will have one year to complete the project. The Applied Research Centre is committed to supporting a diverse and inclusive workplace. We welcome applications from qualified candidates who will contribute to this diversity and champion the equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) practices of the College, including proposals involving non-traditional research themes and approaches.

For our next competition, the application deadline is:

Monday, April 8, 2024
for projects starting in September 2024 and beyond
