Annina Greenfield -  Certificate in Social Service Worker

Lieutenant Governor's Medal / Langara College Lieutenant Governor's Medal Award

Annina has been awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Medal in recognition of her outstanding CGPA and positive impact to her community. Annina graduates with a cumulative grade point average of 4.18. For the past few years, Annina has been an active volunteer at Langara, the YWCA, and PLEA Community Services. Community service is dear to her heart and she is grateful to be chosen for an award that recognizes her hard work as a volunteer. Upon graduation, Annina plans to work with youth facing barriers.


Maneisha Sandhu -  Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting

President’s Medal for Academic Excellence and Community Service

Maneisha is graduating with a cumulative grade point average of 3.60 and an exceptional history of community involvement that started in her childhood. While maintaining an outstanding CGPA, Maneisha volunteered for multiple community organizations, including here at Langara. Although she does not mind being recognized for this award, her intention behind volunteering was not recognition but her passion for giving back. Currently a full-time tax associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Maneisha plans to pursue her CPA designation and eventually, come back to Langara to teach accounting.


Zicong Fan -  Associate of Science Degree in Computer Science

Governor General’s Collegiate Bronze Medal & Langara College Graduate Excellence Award (Arts and Science)

Zicong Fan graduates from the Associate of Science: Computer Science program with the highest cumulative grade point average of any other two-year arts and science student. Zicong’s experiences at Langara exceeded his expectations and he is grateful for his instructors’ guidance over the last two years. The quote that helped him be successful is “We judge ourselves based on what we are capable of doing; others judge us based on what we have done”. Upon graduation, Zicong plans to finish his undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Computer Science and apply for graduate school.


Renee Cano -  Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting

Langara College Graduate Excellence Award (Bachelor’s Degree)

For her outstanding academic achievements, Renée has been awarded the Langara College Graduate Excellence Award. She graduates from her program with the highest cumulative grade point average of any Bachelor’s Degree student. Renée is honoured to receive the award and graduates with fond memories of the camaraderie she has built with other students, her great instructors, and her valuable experience from taking co-operative education. Renée plans to pursue her CPA designation in the fall.


Rebecca Stephen - Bachelor of Recreation Management

President’s Medal for Academic Excellence and Community Service

Rebecca has been a volunteer for over 10 years with a variety of community organizations, and is honoured to be awarded the President’s Medal in recognition of her volunteerism in combination with her exceptional cumulative grade point average. Rebecca is grateful to the amazing teachers and role models who have contributed to who she is today and looks forward to using the skills and knowledge she has learned at Langara to face future challenges. Rebecca plans to pursue a career in a non-profit organization working with youth.


Midori Ito - Certificate in Aboriginal Studies Post-Degree

Langara College Graduate Excellence Award (Certificate)

Midori Ito feels privileged to receive the Langara College Graduate Excellence Award (Certificate) for her exceptional cumulative grade point average, the highest of any certificate graduate, and is honoured to have had the opportunity to study at Langara College, also known as snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓, a name given to Langara by the Musqeuam First Nation. Midori chose to study at Langara to learn about indigenous people outside of her home country, Japan, and plans to bring that knowledge, respect, and equality back home. The support and sense of community she received from her classmates and instructors made this a truly rewarding experience. Midori plans to pursue her PhD and commit to reconciliation in Japan. 


Crystal Montecalvo -  Bachelor of Science in Nursing

President’s Medal for Academic Excellence and Community Service

For her high grades and remarkable community service, Crystal is being awarded with the President’s Medal for her work in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. During her time at Langara, Crystal helped grow the Student Nurse Advocacy program from two members to 30 by contributing over 500 hours of service over two years. She has also participated in fundraising for street youth in Bolivia and Vancouver.  Crystal has moved to Calgary, Alberta and plans to pursue an emergency specialty.


Kayla Hofman -  Diploma in Social Service Worker (co-ordinated)

Langara College Graduate Excellence Award (Career)

After being here for two years, Kayla is being awarded the Langara College Graduate Excellence Award for achieving the highest cumulative grade point average of any two-year career student at Langara. Kayla is leaving Langara with a much greater understanding of accountability, self-awareness, and transparency in the social services field. She plans to gain more experience in the field and eventually pursue her Master’s of Social Work.
