Vancouver, BC - Langara College business students took second place for overall team score in the senior division at the 2024 Western Canadian Business Competition (WCBC). Team members Peter Kim, Vinicius Levy, and Henry Wiranata were drawn from the Langara School of Management degree and post-degree diploma programs.
The WCBC is a comprehensive undergraduate business competition where students consolidate their knowledge and skills in teams to develop strategic solutions in a simulated business scenario. WCBC provides students with lasting experiences, enhancing their strategic proficiency and business aptitude while connecting them with other future business leaders.
The students were tasked with preparing a strategic business plan, perform two presentations in front of the judges and industry experts, and complete financial projections on their case study.
“The WCBC competition provided me with a valuable opportunity to test and apply the knowledge I have learned in my studies,” said Winrata, a first-year student completing the post-degree diploma in business administration. “It helped me sharpen essential skills like problem-solving, public speaking, and time management, all of which I believe are highly sought after by employers.”
The students were coached by instructors Don Hill, Vanessa Barron, and You Bin (Ben) Tan.
Institutions from around BC participated, including Kwantlen University, Douglas College, Okanagan College, NorQuest College, College of New Caledonia and others competed in the two-day competition hosted by Douglas College.
